The Louisiana Lung Cancer Partnership became the third state chapter of National Lung Cancer Partnership in October 2010 to support lung cancer research, awareness and change. Members include health care professionals, lung cancer survivors and advocates dedicated to decreasing deaths due to lung cancer and helping patients live longer and better. The first Free to Breathe® 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk was held in Lake Charles, LA in March 2009, and the next Lousiana Free to Breathe® 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk is schedule for 2012 in Lake Charles.
