By 2022, we will double the overall five-year lung cancer survival rate in the US. Achieving this ambitious goal will take dedication, collaboration and inspiration. To reach it, we will fund programs supporting:
Fund Research with the Greatest Potential to Save Lives
How we will get there:
- Grow our research program to fund the next scientific breakthroughs benefiting patients
- Evaluate research funding strategies and implement a structure to fund the most effective types of research projects in the most efficient ways possible
- Forge new partnerships to accelerate lifesaving research
- Empower more people to take action in their communities and raise funds for research
Help All patients fully understand their treatment options
How we will get there:
- Optimize our educational resources and delivery strategies to get patients the right information at the right times, empowering them to make crucial decisions about their treatment and care
- Ensure healthcare providers are trained and prepared to address patients’ needs completely, promptly and compassionately
Ensure molecular tumor testing is standard of care
How we will get there:
- Provide resources to help patients understand molecular tumor testing so more patients can be matched with treatments tailored to their tumor’s specific characteristics
- Educate healthcare providers on the benefits of molecular tumor testing
- Ensure research discoveries are quickly moved to the clinic to improve patient care
Double the number of lung cancer patients participating in clinical trials
How we will get there:
- Provide resources to help patients understand how clinical trials can provide cutting-edge therapies and treatment methods
- Provide resources to help doctors recommend clinical trials to more patients
- Develop programs to address common barriers that make it harder for lung cancer patients to participate in clinical trials
